Spirituality is a key aspect of Islam that has been present from its very incipiency, and explained by early Masters such as Imām Al-Qushayrī (d. 465 AH). In this newsletter we would like to acquaint you with one of his most valuable works that Shaykh Al-Yaqoubi is publishing soon. It has been edited according to a manuscript that Shaykh Al-Yaqoubi discovered at Princeton University Library.

MANTHŪR AL-KHIṬĀB

The book presents fifty of the most important Sufi principles and stations with concise definitions. The text is followed by a full detailed commentary which Shaykh al-Yaqoubi wrote after teaching the book in Madrid in 2019. In his analysis, Shaykh al-Yaqoubi sheds light on these definitions and presents us with textual evidence from the Holy Quran and the Sacred Sunnah.

This is a landmark on Sufism and the life of Imām Al-Qushayrī, whose works have influenced every Sufi order and contributed to shaping Sunni taṣawwuf as we know it today.

It is coupled with an extensive biography of Imām Al-Qushayrī and an unprecedented study of 105 of his students. Shaykh Al-Yaqoubi has also authored a biography of Imam Al-Qushayrī’s family:

His wife Fāṭimah, a remarkable scholar and woman of Allah
His eight children, who were also great scholars – two of them women
Sixteen of his grandchildren, all Qushayrīs, and great scholars and hadith authorities.

Family Fun Day at the Pakistani Community Centre in Derby, Saturday 19th of October 2024

Scholarly Heritage had a stall at the Family Fun Day in Derby last weekend, where children enjoyed a bouncy castle, popcorn and candyfloss. Our volunteers shared information about our campaigns with the attendees, and fundraised by selling clothes, delicious homemade food, mocktails, sweets, cakes, oud and perfumes – all goods that were generously donated – may Allah reward all the donors!
