ONE YEAR WITH
It is now one year since we launched the Scholarly Heritage Association. It has been an eventful year, during which we have grown in many different dimensions – by the tawfiq of Allah. We have been entrusted to organize and finance several great projects and events, translate and edit works of Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi, and promote them to reach a wider audience. In this process, we have also grown and matured as an organisation, developed new skills, established internal processes to maintain and raise the quality of our work.
We thank you for all your support – donations, volunteering efforts, moral support and encouragement. May Allah be pleased with you and with us, guard and increase the purity of our intentions and grant us tawifiq!
Below is a summary of our first year of activity – may it inspire you to continue supporting us! Enjoy!
THE MAURITIUS TOUR AND HADITH RECITAL
The Mauritius Tour had many highlights with events such as:
- A well attended Dhikr session in the main mosque in Mauritius,
- Advice on how to build the Muslim community,
- A lecture on the “Principles of the Sunnah”,
- The hadith recital of the Ajlouniyya (the first hadith in forty great hadith collections) and the Awakhir (the last hadith). Both collections were recited in a session that was broadcast via live stream, and ijaza was given to 1300 attending students world wide.
Al-Arba’un al-Awakhir, which is an original, previously-unpublished work compiled by Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi, was printed and gifted to all those who attended on-site, and also made available as a PDF. A stock of the book was brought to the UK and gifted to scholars.
FATWA ON FRIDAY PRAYERS DURING PANDEMICS
A Fatwa was issued in the form of a video recording by Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi. This was issued during a time when the Muslim communities in the West were undecided, about whether the obligation of Friday prayers should be maintained. The Fatwa was translated into many different languages and promoted world wide.
PRAYERS FOR PROTECTION
A wonderful gift to the entire Muslim Ummah:
- Live recitation of duas for protection in four online sessions
- The English translation and transliteration of the duas were provided by the scholarly Heritage translation team and edited documents were made available to the public, as a gift by Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi.
This much needed and greatly appreciated series of videos was delivered in livestream sessions during a period of four weeks, which helped to relieve worries and anxieties at the beginning of the pandemic.

The Shamail project is one of our largest projects, spanning over an entire year, from one Rabi al-Awwal to another, which comprised a long list of different activities and works:

CHALLENGE OF LOVE
Scholarly Heritage launched a poetry competition, where old and young participated. Three winners, chosen by an independent jury, were given book prizes.
CELEBRATING THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD ﷺ
In defence of his honour
When slanders were publicly thrown at our beloved Prophetﷺ, Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi replied with the maxim: “Our response to slander is praise,” thereby diverting angry reactions and channeling them into an act of love.
And the Shaykh immediately put it into action by offering a series of livestream programs, presenting one of his most eloquent and penetrating poems, namely The Moroccan Revelations, under the title, “Celebrating the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
From the live streams we extracted some highlights and circulated them as short clips on social media, in order to raise interest for the programme.

MORE TRANSLATIONS & VIDEOS
Over the year, Scholarly Heritage has produced a number of videos, translations and subtitles for works of Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi, such as his New Year poem and The mother, the speech about Imam Ahmad Alawi and many others.
We thank Allah for this year in the service of one of His scholars and knowers, members of the Family of His most beloved Prophet ﷺ. We pray that it be accepted from us, and that we may be allowed to continue with ever increasing energy and refined skills – by His tawfiq and by the honor of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ – may He send endless prayers and salutations upon him.
